New Zealand Profile Tumblrl84oljhocx1qdyfuv
Name: Zea (short for something but she's shy about what)
Official Languages: English and Maori (she's bilingual)
Age: around 170 years old - (she looks 17)

A really friendly young country, New Zealand is one of the youngest of Englands colonies, but she is determined not to be kept in her brothers' shadows. Despite being so young she is really quite independent, often being the forerunner in many revolutionary ideas, including splitting the atom and giving women the vote. She is quite the tomboy and loves to beat England and Australia at rugby. She also loves animals, specifically sheep and birds.

New Zealand Profile 625688New Zealand - Australia: Typical siblings, they grew up together at the bottom of the world. Australia often teases New Zealand to her extreme annoyance. Their rivalry is most fierce when it comes to sport. Yet despite their often fights the two countries are closest to each other than the rest of the world (Australia proposed to her in 1901 - The Australian Constitution - but New Zealand rejected him)

New Zealand Profile 950391New Zealand - England: Essentially England is New Zealand's 'dad' - as a former British colony New Zealand has very strong ties with England. Unlike Australia, whom England shipped all his criminals too, New Zealand was treated very well by England. They both enjoy fish and chips, tea, and sports like rugby and cricket, one of NZ's nicknames is 'South Seas Pom'

New Zealand Profile 9479New Zealand - China: New Zealand and China go way back, from the early gold rush when many Chinese Immigrants travelled to NZ to strike it lucky. Today New Zealand and China have a Free Trade Agreement - it is the first China has ever signed with a developed country.

New Zealand Profile 274648New Zealand - United States: Both former British Colonies, New Zealand has fought side by side with America in almost every war. She thinks that he is pretty amazing, but at the same time thinks he can be pretty idiotic. When he tried to sail his nuclear warships into New Zealand's waters in the 60's New Zealand protested loudly and he was forced to leave. Since then New Zealand has been nuclear free and it shows she's not afraid to tell the most powerful country in the world where to stick it.
However, somehow the older nation still manages to get her involved in all his crazy schemes - and she usually follows him willingly (admiring him as younger siblings tend to do) - if not with loud complaint about how stupid the whole thing is.

New Zealand Profile 405474New Zealand - Canada: The younger siblings duo. New Zealand and Canada have quite close relations. They share very similar outlooks on the world, and are both often overshadowed by their brothers (Australia and America). Despite the distance separating the two countries they both view the other as a 'valuable international partner'

(more country relations will be added at a later date . . )

New Zealand Profile Empty Relations Cont.

New Zealand Profile 160657 New Zealand - France: Because New Zealand was brought up by England she is naturally suspicious of France, especially since he tried to colonise her ‘south’ when she was younger (England stopped him). Their relations strengthened in WWII as they fought side by side. However in recent years these relations have worsened. This tension can be traced back to two incidents. The bombing of the Rainbow Warrior in the 80’s** and the fact France kicked New Zealand out of the last Rugby World Cup in the semifinals (unforgivable ;A;)

New Zealand Profile 880681 New Zealand - Germany: New Zealand's initial contact with Germany was of course through World War Two. WWII was a huge stepping stone for New Zealand as it helped define the young nation and discover her identity. She had been forced into WWI by England but this time declared war on Germany independently. She also played a crucial part in defeating Germany at both the Battle of Britain in 1940 and the final Italian showdown in Trieste in 1945. Today New Zealand and Germany have very close relations, they share similar opinions in World Meetings and share a love for science.

New Zealand Profile 408294New Zealand - Japan: Have a good trading relationship. They also have a lot more in common than it would seem, they are both volcanic islands positioned on the edge of the Pacific, they both have hot springs and a history of noble warriors. They even look geographically similar! However recently they have argued about Japan’s whaling policy (New Zealand doesn’t like him whaling near her - she prefers her whales alive thankyewverymuch)

'New Zealand Profile 113687New Zealand - Netherlands: Their relations are incredibly tight - though it would not appear so as it is not something they draw attention too. As Netherlands was the one who discovered and named her, he holds a special place in her heart, (but as he wasn’t around much when she was growing he is similar to a deadbeat uncle or something to that effect). He is certainly a bad influence on her***. Today they share similar ideas and often sit next to each other at world meetings.

New Zealand Profile 164314New Zealand - Turkey: They met in unfortunate circumstances, facing each other in one of the most brutal battles in World War One, the battle of Gallipoli. Both New Zealand and Turkey suffered the most dramatic losses of life (compared with the British, Australian and others who were fighting). It was a battle that affected both countries powerfully and made them what they are today. In recent years the relations between the two countries have become a friendly comradeship, putting the past behind them.**** They both have monuments dedicated to the soldiers of the other country in their house.

**New Zealand had been protesting France’s nuclear testing in the Pacific when the Greenpeace boat Rainbow Warrior was bombed in Auckland Harbour. It was later discovered that the attack had been carried out by French spies - whose orders had come from the very top, the President of France . .

***She has the highest percentage of cannabis use in the world http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/lif_can_use-lifestyle-cannabis-use Certainly something that could be traced back to him XD

**** Though the shy and gentle New Zealand is not quite sure what to make of the large and terrifying figure of Sadiq . .
